Dear all,

You will be aware that last night the UK Government revised the “stay at home guidance” for the general population. In summary you MUST stay at home for 7 days if you have the following symptoms, however mild they are:

· new continuous cough and/or
· high temperature

Also, new guidance is available to schools around education trips and visits. Our response to this advice is as follows:

Pupil and Staff Self Isolation:
The health and general welfare of our pupils and staff is our most important priority and we strongly encourage all members of our community to follow the above guidance. Note that in the case of a pupil absence due to the above advice, please let us know your child is “self-isolating” and we will ensure that this is coded such that families will not face any sanctions. Equally, for staff, please let us know you are “self-isolating” or are the main carer for someone who is “self-isolating” and this absence will be recorded so that it does not form part of our “Absence Management” procedures. In cases where a member of our community has tested positive for COVID 19 please email [email protected] directly for further advice.

School Trips and Visits:
The Government are now advising schools and other educational settings against all overseas travel for under 18. Consequently, we have taken the decision to cancel both our Ski and Barcelona Trips. We are working with our insurers to secure refunds or explore the option of running the trip at another time. Please note, every school and college in the country is likely to be making decisions around their upcoming overseas trips and therefore we ask for your understanding as we work through the issues. Currently, domestic trips and visits are still running as normal, albeit with revised risk assessments. However, it should be noted, that these may be subject to cancellation at very short notice. We will endeavour to communicate any changes through our social media channels, text and/or website.

Full or Partial School Closure:
At the moment, we are not planning to close and the advice from the Government is to stay open unless Public Health England advises otherwise. However, due to staff absence, it may prove necessary to enact a partial or, in extreme cases, a full closure. This is something we are striving to avoid and have taken a number of internal steps to reduce the likelihood of this. Should the school have to close fully or partially, we will endeavour to communicate this to you as early as possible. We recommend you begin to consider alternative child care arrangements for this eventuality.

Home Learning during “Self-Isolation” and School Closures:
The key way we will provide home learning opportunities is via our website. Our Primary Staff are also preparing home learning packs which will be sent home in the coming days. Whilst some staff members may be available via email during periods of “self-isolation” or school closure, we cannot guarantee they will be in a position to respond in a timely fashion. Any safeguarding issues should be sent directly to [email protected]
