We would like to say a very warm welcome from Mayfield School to the 90 children and their families who have been allocated a place at our school today, National Offer Day.

Mayfield remains one of the most popular Primary Schools in the City of Portsmouth with over 470 applications for it’s 90 places, meaning that there were over 5 applications for each place in Year R and 3. Headteacher, David Jeapes said:

“Since opening our Primary Section in 2014, the response from our local community has been amazing. Once again, we have seen a rise in the number of applications and our Primary Section remains heavily oversubscribed. As ever, we look forward to sharing the benefits of all through schooling with a new cohort of children and their families. I would like to reassure all new and existing parents and carers that behind the scenes our staff are working hard to ensure that when schools reopen fully, we quickly catch up all pupils.”

Head of Primary, Fiona Rogers said:

“We are delighted to welcome 90 new children to our Primary Section. In spite of the current lockdown, we will be writing to every child and their family to welcome them personally and to explain how we will ensure a smooth transition into our school”.
