Following feedback around the provision of food hampers, The Governing Body of the school have decided to offer supermarket vouchers instead of the food hampers from the start of the summer term. Therefore, Mayfield’s approach to the distribution of free school meals will be changing from Monday 20th April. The main changes are:

· In line with the latest DfE guidance, the scheme will only apply to children who are entitled to a free school based on their household income. It no longer applies to children in Year R, 1 and 2 who receive the universal free school meal,

· Parents will be provided with a weekly £15 voucher for each child who is eligible for free school meals instead of the food hampers that are available this week.

There are two ways that you can receive your voucher. Our preferred method of sending the vouchers is to email them directly to you on a Monday. The vouchers can then be spent straight away at any of the following supermarkets: Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury, Waitrose or M&S Food. Please complete this form here if you wish to have your vouchers emailed to you directly.

If you don’t have an email address, the school is able to print you a £15 voucher to be spent at any Tesco store. This will be posted to you by Royal Mail on a weekly basis.

We are mindful that several families’ financial circumstances will have changed due to the current pandemic and that they may now be eligible for ‘free school meal’ support. If you believe your circumstances have changed then please complete an application form on the Portsmouth City Council website by following this link:
