Dear Year 11,

We hope this email finds you and your families well and you are all staying home and staying safe.

We know many of you will be concerned about your GCSE grades and how this will affect you. We wanted to reassure you that as a school we will do everything we can to ensure you all receive the recognition you deserve for all your hard work. We will support you in ensuring you are able to confidently progress onto your next stage of learning. The exam boards have released some information on how grades will be worked out - however we do not have the full details yet. You can find more information here, as well as some answers to a few of your questions.

Every Year 11 pupil in the country is awaiting more clarity, but whilst we await this there are a few things you can do:

 ·         Keep hold of any school work you have (exercise books, mock papers, revision work) in case they are needed;

 ·         Don’t worry if you have these at school - they will still be there;

 ·         Make sure you don’t stop learning. This is a great time to ensure you are developing your Maths and English skills as these are skills which will be required regardless of the direction of further study you are choosing;

 ·         Consider the areas of study you will be undertaking in September and ensure you are still revising subjects which relate to this. You could contact your college and ask if they have any suggestions for you;

 ·         After Easter we will be including a few more suggestions for continuing your home learning on the website.

Many of you will be disappointed not to have had the opportunity to be a part some of the other key milestones of year 11 such as the prom and leavers assembly. We are hoping as a school to put something in place for both of these events as soon as it is safe.

Finally we want you to remember all those amazing things you have achieved at school. Keep working at them - they are skills for life not just skills to pass a set of GCSE exams.

It may be that you have left the building before we expected, but we are confident that you are ready for your next stage of learning and that you have the right skills to carry on achieving in everything you do. You have, on countless occasions, shown us how fantastic you are. We know you have all the values and attributes needed to succeed in life.

You are ready for this. You have shown us all you are respectful and responsible. We know you will be resourceful in your future adventures and always reflective on your progress. You are a truly resilient group and will fulfil your ambitions.

We all miss you and hope to see you soon!
